5th Newsletter



Thank you to all the parents who have come in to help, your time and kindness is greatly appreciated! I would also like to thank all the families who have donated money for our “Hope for Houston,” effort!

Our Learning

ELA
·         Finish Thunder Cake
·         Work on Story Sequence
·          Comparing Characters
·         Character Motivations
·         Take the Selection Test on Thunder Cake
·         Continue our work on writing a narrative

Science
·         Use the story Thunder Cake as inspiration and discuss and create thunder using our artistic skills.

         Math
·         Multiplication Facts
·         Take our Post Test on Topic #2
·         Work on Multiplying by 10
        Leadership
·         Continue our discussion on self-respect and come up with a skit to represent it

Important Information
We will be collecting change in the 3rd grade classrooms to purchase gift cards to send to the families in need. If you can help please have your child bring in the change and deposit it in our class jar. 
Part of your child’s homework assignment is on Google Classroom. Your child’s email and password were emailed to you. If you are having trouble logging in please have your child complete the assignment on paper. The question for the week has been written below.
This week in your child’s homework folder you will find the following items:
1.      Reading Log- (Due Friday)
2.      Multiplication Facts Reference Sheet
3.      Multiplication Facts Practice Sheet
4.      Spelling Words for the week
5.      Questions to Ask During Reading Reference Sheet
6.      Google Classroom- Writing Question for the week- (Due Friday)
To reach Google Classroom your child will need to take the following steps:
1.      Type ILCSweb.com in the browser
2.      Log on using the child’s email and password
3.      Click on the box that says Google Classroom
4.      That will take them to the Cool Katz Google Class
5.      Click on Cool Katz , they do not need to put in the Class Code
6.      Click on Homework #2
7.      Click on Create and Docs
8.    Click Submit when it is completed 

Question of the week- Posted on Google Classroom-Can be done on paper if you have trouble with Google Classroom.

Tell me about a time you had a problem. What was the conflict? What motivated you to solve it?


Show and Tell on Friday

I am asking for your amazing help to please make sure that the items that are brought in on Friday are not fragile and are items that can easily fit in their backpacks. I asked them to try to bring in a fun toy to share. Thank you for all of your support! Have an amazing week!
